To strengthen communication between the college and international students, and continuously improve the quality of international student education and management, the School of International Education held an international student forum in Conference Room 1118 of Haihan Building on the afternoon of May 14. Shen Yun, Secretary of the General Party Branch, Zhang Min, Deputy Secretary of the General Party Branch, teachers from the teaching management team and 24 international students attended the in-depth exchange session.

At the forum, Zhang Min first briefly introduced the purpose and significance of the activity, and encouraged international student representatives to speak freely. The participants actively shared their views on classroom teaching adaptation, Chinese language improvement approaches, cross-cultural activity design and living facility optimization. They talked about their gains of studying and living on campus, and put forward practical suggestions in an open manner. Teachers present expressed their gratitude for the valuable feedback. Questions such as curriculum arrangement and dormitory facility maintenance were responded to on the spot, while issues requiring overall coordination were recorded in detail.

In her concluding remarks, Shen Yun pointed out that international student education serves as a key window for the university’s international development. The college always attaches great importance to students’ reasonable demands. All problems collected in the forum will be sorted into a list with clear persons in charge, so as to promote targeted solutions and ensure every matter is properly handled with a pragmatic work style. She stated that the college will establish a regular communication mechanism to provide a better study and living environment for international students. Meanwhile, she hoped all international students would make full use of learning resources, master professional knowledge, abide by campus regulations, take an active part in practical activities, and act as ambassadors for Sino‑foreign cultural exchange.

The forum was held in a warm and harmonious atmosphere. It enabled the college to fully understand international students’ study, life and ideological conditions, and played a positive role in boosting the overall quality of education, teaching and management services for international students.
