To continuously improve the quality of international student education and teaching, strengthen the construction of academic atmosphere, and foster an environment of diligent and earnest learning, the School of International Education held a special meeting on study style construction in Conference Room 1118 of Haihan Building on the afternoon of December 10. Members of the college leadership, international student counselors, class teachers and all teachers of the Chinese Language Curriculum Center attended the meeting. The session was presided over by Zhang Min, Deputy Secretary of the General Party Branch.
At the meeting, Zhang Min reported the overall situation of classroom inspections and attendance supervision for international student classes since the beginning of this semester. She systematically sorted out the attendance status of each class, analyzed the causes and distribution characteristics of students under academic early warning, and summarized the targeted measures adopted in the early stage as well as their initial results. In view of the existing difficulties in study style construction, she proposed to further improve the four-level linkage attendance and academic early warning mechanism consisting of class attendance officers, course teachers, head teachers and counselors, strengthen collaborative intervention, and adopt more targeted and effective measures to urge international students to correct their learning attitudes and abide by teaching discipline.
Combined with front-line work experience, participating counselors, class teachers and course teachers actively put forward suggestions. In-depth discussions were carried out on improving classroom management efficiency, implementing differentiated tutoring strategies, and integrating cultural adaptation guidance with study style cultivation, with a number of constructive opinions and proposals put forward.
Shen Yun, Secretary of the General Party Branch, emphasized in her speech that study style construction is the lifeline of talent training quality and bears particularly great significance for international student education and management. She put forward four requirements for the college. First, unify understanding and attach great importance to study style construction, fully recognizing its key role in polishing international education brands and promoting students’ all-round development. Second, consolidate responsibilities and promote coordinated implementation to ensure the effective operation of the four-level linkage mechanism and build an all-round, whole-process and full-staff education system. Third, focus on guidance and optimize services, integrate strict management with humanistic care, stimulate international students’ internal learning motivation, and help them transform from passive learning to active learning. Fourth, adhere to long-term governance and establish a permanent mechanism, incorporating study style construction into all aspects of daily teaching and management to sustain outcomes and boost the high-quality development of international student education.
This meeting summarized practical experience, analyzed existing problems, and clarified the direction and measures for further study style improvement. Moving forward, the School of International Education will continue to optimize international student education and management, consolidate the whole process of talent cultivation, and lay a solid foundation for cultivating talented international talents who are knowledgeable about, friendly to China and equipped with solid professional competence.
