To ensure the safe and orderly participation of international students in the Jiangsu Belt and Road Youth Sports Exchange Week, and improve the quality and educational effectiveness of off-campus practice, the School of International Education held a pre-departure education meeting on the afternoon of May 23. International student participants, counselors and leading teachers attended the meeting, which was presided over by Zhang Min, Deputy Secretary of the General Party Branch.
Zhang Min emphasized the great significance of the activity. She pointed out that the Jiangsu Belt and Road Youth Sports Exchange Week serves as an important platform for international cultural exchanges and friendship enhancement among young people from Belt and Road countries. She encouraged international students to take an active part and fully demonstrate the positive spirit of the university’s international students. Meanwhile, she put forward clear requirements, asking all participants to strictly abide by activity disciplines and local laws and regulations, always prioritize safety, communicate with young people from various countries with an open and inclusive attitude, and gain growth and friendship through the activity.
Counselors and leading teachers gave detailed explanations on safety precautions, activity schedules and codes of civility. They covered traffic safety, property safety and personal safety, as well as daily arrangements and emergency response measures, ensuring that international students had a comprehensive and clear understanding of the whole activity. In addition, special emphasis was placed on civilized etiquette. Students were reminded to respect diverse cultures and customs, and present the fine image of China as a land of etiquette. To strengthen their sense of responsibility and self-discipline, all participating international students signed the Off-campus Practice Commitment Letter.
This pre-departure meeting has laid a solid foundation for the smooth participation in the Jiangsu Belt and Road Youth Sports Exchange Week. With careful organization and arrangement by the university, international students will broaden their horizons, enrich their experience, and contribute to international cultural exchanges and cooperation.
