On the afternoon of June 11, the School of International Education successfully held the 2nd Alumni Branch General Election Meeting in the Multi-Function Room 1117 of Haihan Building. Song Yabing, Member of the University Party Committee and Director of the Organization Department, attended the meeting. Leadership members of the School of International Education, faculty representatives and international alumni from various cohorts participated in the event. Chaired by Zhang Yuanyuan, Vice Dean of the School of International Education, the meeting was conducted in an online-offline combined format.
Shen Yun, Secretary of the General Party Branch of the School of International Education, delivered a work report on behalf of the First Council of the Alumni Branch. Zhang Min, Deputy Secretary, introduced the preparation work for the second general election. The meeting reviewed and approved the recommended list of the Second Council, and elected a new term of president, vice presidents, secretary-general, deputy secretary-general and council members.
Three alumni from Laos, Indonesia and Nigeria sent congratulatory videos online, extending sincere wishes for the conference and the future development of the Alumni Branch. Shen Yun expressed heartfelt gratitude to all alumni for their long-term care and support for the college and alumni work. She stated that the college would carry forward the fine traditions of the first council, adhere to the tenet of serving alumni, the university and society, and strive to elevate alumni work to a new level. The Alumni Branch will serve as a solid bridge connecting China and foreign countries and promoting win-win cooperation.
On behalf of the university, Song Yabing congratulated the successful convening of the meeting. He pointed out that as an important window for external exchanges, the Alumni Branch has played a vital role in advancing international cooperation and enhancing the university’s global influence. He hoped the new council would further strengthen the bridge function, integrate alumni resources, and provide more opportunities for international students in study and communication. Efforts will be made to polish the brand of Studying at Haiyuan, raise the university’s international reputation, and contribute to building a world-class maritime vocational college with Chinese characteristics.
The smooth holding of the election meeting marks a new stage for the Alumni Branch. Guided by the University Alumni Association, the branch will unite alumni at home and abroad with an open vision and practical measures, boost the high-quality development of international education, and write a new chapter of joint progress with deep alumni friendship.
