To promote fine traditional Chinese culture, boost Sino-foreign cultural exchanges, and enhance international students’ understanding and passion for the Chinese language, the School of International Education held a classic recitation activity in Room 100, Jingde Building on the afternoon of April 16. As one of the series events for International Chinese Language Day, the activity was themed Recite Chinese Classics Together, Forge Cultural Bonds Jointly. It was attended by international student representatives, teachers from the Chinese teaching team, and Party volunteers from the English Skills and Development Curriculum Party Branch.
In the poetry recitation session, international students took to the stage to chant a selection of classic Chinese poems. From the tender sentiments of The Book of Songs·Zheng Feng·Zi Jin, to the historical vicissitudes of the Tang poem Stone City, and the delicate artistic conception of the Song ci poem Bu Suan Zi, they delivered emotional recitations that fully demonstrated the timeless artistic charm of traditional Chinese poetry, bringing an immersive cultural experience to all teachers and students present. Afterwards, teachers led international students in reciting lyrics of classic Chinese works including Jasmine Flower, Farewell and Friends. During the session, teachers patiently explained unfamiliar words and sentences, guiding students to appreciate the beauty of the Chinese language and greatly stimulating their interest in Chinese learning. At the end of the activity, teachers taught everyone to sing Chinese songs. Blended with melodious melodies, the beautiful Chinese language immersed all participants, who expressed their love for Chinese and wishes for a better life through songs. Throughout the event, Party volunteers practiced the spirit of service by assisting teaching, answering questions and facilitating communication, serving as an important guarantee for the smooth progress of the activity.
This activity serves not only as a practical classroom for Chinese learning, but also as an important platform for cultural inheritance and exchange. It enables in-depth dialogue between international students and fine traditional Chinese culture, and fully displays and spreads the unique charm of the Chinese language through interactive communication.
