On the afternoon of May 31, the School of International Education held the themed Chinese Bridge activity Dragon Boat Festival Gathering in Room 100, Jingde Building. Organized by the Chinese Language Curriculum Center, the event was attended by international student representatives and faculty members.
At the beginning of the activity, Yu Lu from the Chinese Language Curriculum acted as a cultural guide. With illustrated courseware and vivid explanations, she introduced the origin, traditional customs and cultural connotations of the Dragon Boat Festival. The subsequent knowledge contest enlivened the atmosphere, and international students actively raised their hands to answer questions.
I know! The Dragon Boat Festival is in memory of Qu Yuan!We eat zongzi instead of dumplings on Dragon Boat Festival!
Yang Shanlu from Laos responded quickly and answered multiple questions correctly, winning warm applause. In the wormwood sachet making session, teachers first demonstrated materials and production procedures, and explained the effect of wormwood in repelling insects and preventing diseases.
International students began making sachets with great enthusiasm. They filled wormwood, sewed and decorated carefully, and consulted teachers whenever needed. Under patient guidance, delicate wormwood sachets took shape one after another. Students proudly held their works for group photos. At this moment, diverse cultures blended quietly through every stitch and thread.
This Chinese Bridge activity integrated knowledge learning with hands-on experience, allowing international students to perceive the profound charm of traditional Chinese culture in a relaxing and enjoyable way. In the future, the School of International Education will continue to rely on the Chinese Bridge platform to launch various cultural experience activities and promote exchanges and integration between different cultures.
