On the afternoon of December 10, the School of International Education successfully held the singing contest of the 2nd International Student Chinese Culture Festival in Room 301, Jinghui Building. International students from Laos, Indonesia, the Republic of the Congo, Mongolia, Bangladesh and other countries took an active part in the competition and showcased their singing talents.

At the contest, participants conveyed emotions through melodies and fully interpreted the theme Bosom Friends Across the World, Harmony in Diversity with beautiful singing. The melodious Sweetness, romantic Fairy Tale and sincere Ode to Red Plum Blossoms touched every audience present beyond geographical boundaries. The event served not only as a competition of Chinese proficiency, but also as a blend of diverse cultures and a resonance of friendship. The venue was filled with a warm and lively atmosphere with continuous applause and cheers. Many audiences hummed along with the music and beat time to the rhythm. Through singing, international students further appreciated the phonological beauty of the Chinese language and deepened their understanding of Chinese linguistic art.

Wang Mei, teacher from the Chinese Language Curriculum Center, commented after the competition. She pointed out that the contestants delivered clear pronunciation and accurate melodies, and more importantly, expressed the emotions and artistic conception of each song. Learning to sing Chinese songs is an effective form of immersive language learning. It enables students to perceive the rhythmic charm of Chinese and understand daily expressions through lyrics, greatly enhancing the fun and appeal of language study.

With music as the bond, this singing contest has enriched the cultural life of international students and demonstrated their enthusiasm and achievements in learning Chinese and integrating into Chinese culture. It also adds a strong international humanistic atmosphere to the campus.
