On February 16, 2026, the Lunar New Year’s Eve, the 29th day of the twelfth lunar month, as the old year passed and the new one arrived, the School of International Education held an International Student Spring Festival Gala on the first floor of Nianjia Canteen. Zheng Jun, Member of the University Party Committee and Vice President, attended the event. Persons in charge of the Logistics and Security Department, the School of International Education and other relevant departments, together with faculty representatives and more than 70 international students from 14 countries including the Republic of the Congo, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Tajikistan, Indonesia, Laos, Côte d’Ivoire, Kyrgyzstan, Cameroon, Nigeria, Gabon, Morocco, Mongolia and Haiti, gathered to celebrate the Lunar New Year.
On behalf of the university, Zheng Jun extended New Year wishes to all international students. He wished every student full of vitality in the Year of the Horse, making steady progress in academic studies, striving for excellence, integrating Chinese and foreign cultures in daily life, and embracing a promising future with every success. He also presented New Year gift packages to the students, allowing those far away from home to experience the strong festive atmosphere of the Chinese New Year and the warm care of the university family.
Centering on the theme of Conveying Friendship through Culture and Warming Hearts with Reunion, the gala featured a wealth of traditional Chinese cultural experiences, such as blessing character rubbing, Spring Festival couplet writing, fun games and dumpling making. These activities enabled international students to closely experience the profound charm of fine traditional Chinese culture through hands-on practice. With great enthusiasm, the students wrote Spring Festival couplets, rubbed festive Chinese characters, and learned to make dumplings with mutual help, immersing themselves in the joyous festival atmosphere amid laughter and joy. Young students from different countries sat together, deepening mutual understanding and forging profound friendship through interaction, filling the scene with a warm and harmonious reunion vibe.
At the end of the event, Zheng Jun joined teachers and students for a warm reunion dinner. Everyone tasted hand-made dumplings and exquisite Chinese cuisine carefully prepared by Likon Catering. They raised glasses to exchange greetings, saying Happy New Year and Good luck in everything in Chinese. Though it was cold outside, the venue was filled with warmth and joy. This cross-border warmth helped international students gain a strong sense of belonging in the university family and sowed the seeds of traditional Chinese culture in the hearts of young people from all over the world.
