To enrich the holiday life of international students and strengthen friendship among students from various countries, the School of International Education successfully held the first International Student Badminton Tournament at the gymnasium on the afternoon of May 1st. Dozens of international students from Indonesia, Bangladesh, Laos, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia and other countries participated in the competition.
Upholding the principle of Friendship First, Competition Second, the tournament included three events: men's singles, women's singles and mixed doubles. On the court, all competitors strove tenaciously and cooperated tacitly, fully demonstrating the youthful vitality and sportsmanship of international students from all nations. After fierce rounds of competition, the champions, runners-up and third-place winners of each event were decided. Shen Yun, Secretary of the General Party Branch of the School of International Education, presented certificates of honor to the award-winning students. Among them, male athletes Maniwen and Li Nanu from Laos, as well as female athletes Tulawan and Zhenzhu, also from Laos, will represent the university to participate in the Jiangsu Belt and Road Youth Sports Week International Youth Badminton Challenge in Taizhou.
This tournament not only offered a platform for international students to exercise and exchange skills, but also promoted communication and interaction among overseas students, enhancing their sense of belonging to the campus and collective cohesion. In the future, the School of International Education will continue to launch various cultural and sports activities to build a diversified cultural exchange platform, deepen friendship between Chinese and foreign young people, enrich the brand of Study at JMI, and boost the high-quality development of the university’s international education and China-based overseas student training.
