School of Economics and Management (SEM) at present has 2,800 full-time students. It sets 8 specialties. Customs Declaration and International Freight Transport, Water Transportation Accounting, Port and International Shipping, Container Transportation Management, Business English, Logistics Management, Electronic Commerce, International Economic and Trade, which are classified into two specialty clusters, Port and Shipping Business Management and Finance and Trade. Among them, Container Transportation Management and Port and International Shipping have been established as the High-level Backbone Specialties of Jiangsu Province. SEM runs a provincial project named Deep Industry-Education Integration Training Platform and has founded the Research Center of Port Science and Technology in cooperation with ZTE Software.
SEM has 82 faculty members: 65 full-time teachers, 6 administrators and 11 counselors, including 2 professors, 16 associate professors, and four of them are doctors and ten of them have overseas education background. Almost all the faculty members hold a Master or Doctor degree.
In recent years, through internal cultivation and external introduction, as well as research and studying opportunities at home or abroad, SEM has strengthened the construction and improved the overall level of the teaching team. Now it has initially established a teaching team with qualified education backgrounds and titles, reasonable structure, solid theoretical knowledge, strong practical ability, and rich teaching experience.
