School of Marine Engineering offers four majors: Marine Engineering Technology, Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Technology, Thermal power plant equipment and Internal Combustion Engine Manufacturing and Maintenance. Among them, Marine Engineering Technology is a provincial specialty major funded by the central government, a model major among all national vocational colleges under transportation category, key specialty cultivation place of Provincial Adult High Education, the only major chosen by General Staff Department of PLA and Ministry of Education of China as Navy marine engineering sergeant training major in Yangtze River Delta Area.
The school has three provincial training bases, one practical training base funded by central government, and a globally leading engine room with integrated and intelligent system. The practical training conditions ranked top among similar shipping colleges in China.
The school has a faculty team with excellent academic performance. More than 47% of the teachers are professors and associate professors, 85% of them have master degree and the double-qualified teachers occupy more than 96%. It has one Provincial Teaching Master, one school-level Teaching Master, seven professors, 13 chief engineers and one advanced chief engineer which forms a teaching team with largest percentage of chief engineers national wide.
