    School of Navigation Technology offers two majors, namely, Navigation Technology, Waterway Transportation and Maritime Management. Navigation Technology is honored as provincial brand major, provincial specialty major, national model major under transportation category approved by Ministry of Education of China, core major under Provincial Key Major Group Program.


    The school has a strong team of faculty members. At present, the school has 76 faculty members including 7 professors, 19 associate professors and 13 class A ocean-going captains. There are two candidates of 333 high-level talents cultivation project in Jiangsu Province, four backbone teachers under the Blue Project in Jiangsu Province, one excellent teaching team. All the teachers have the experience of taking up posts in enterprises, and Double-qualified faculty members account for 95%. A part-time teacher bank is also built and composed of 100 enterprise experts, which combines full-time with part-time teachers, and the teaching quality has been fully guaranteed. 


    The school has a National Navigational Practical Skills Training Base, a Maritime Accidents Investigation Laboratory under China MSA, National Science Education Base and an ocean-going 10000 tonnage sized training ship. Now the large ship handling simulator is one of the best simulator in China. With the teaching concept of combining virtual simulation with actual equipment and reinforcing in-school training and off-campus training, the school has constructed a six-dimensional practical teaching system, which improves students’ practical skills.


The school has long cooperated with dozens of well-known shipping enterprises throughout the world, such as COSCO Shipping Group, China Merchants Group, Maersk Shipping and so on. The Maersk (China) Training Center, established in 2019, has been authorized by Panama Maritime Authority, the largest flag state government in the world, and is the first Maersk training Center in China. The teaching reform project of Excellent Seafarers Training Plan was selected in the third batch of 2018 modern apprenticeship pilot projects by the Ministry of Education of China.


    The school has remarkable teaching achievements, Students’ pass rate of Seafarers Competency Examination organized by China MSA ranks top among similar shipping colleges. Graduates are favored by well-known shipping enterprises at home and abroad.
